The pair have been at the top of football for most of the past 15 or 20 years, but now one is playing in MLS and the other in the Saudi Pro League, and they’re playing on the same team. The chance is very good.
The closest they’ve come to playing together was when Al Nassr tried to bring Messi and Ronaldo to the club together, but the former decided to join Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi gives Cristiano Ronaldo a big wink

The duo have won 13 Ballon d’Ors between them and were at the peak of their powers in 2015 when Messi admitted he could imagine playing on the same team as Ronaldo, even if it meant it was a daunting task.
In 2015, he said in an interview: “I always like to play with the best players and he’s one of them. I think it would be difficult for us to play on the same team, but obviously I want to.”
“I’ve been lucky enough to play and share with a lot of really good players and obviously I want to do that with him too.”
Lionel Messi reveals if he would pass the ball to Cristiano Ronaldo
While both players have been lucky enough to be part of great teams, Messi and Ronaldo were undoubtedly the stars of the show.
But how would you work together if you were on the same team? Thankfully, Messi admits he wouldn’t shy away from passing the ball to the Portuguese star.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “If we play together, I think I would pass the ball to him, and yes… Real Madrid without Ronaldo concede a lot of goals, but obviously that happens.”
He added: “Cristiano contributes more than just goals. If a team loses a player who scores 50 goals a season, it shows. Real Madrid have great players, but Cristiano Ronaldo can score 50 goals a season.”

For Messi and Ronaldo, the two help bring out the best in each other, and the former Manchester United player said he hopes to have dinner with the 2022 World Cup winner.
“We’ve been on the same stage for 15 years. I don’t know if it’s ever happened before: the same two people on the same stage. Of course, we have a good relationship,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan.
“We haven’t had dinner together yet, but I hope to do it in the future. We had that fight in Spain. I pushed him and he pushed me. So it’s great to be part of football history.”
