Jamal Musiala has rejected Bayern Munich’s first contract offer due to ‘low’ salary, according to the Mirror (per Express).
While such a report from the UK should be taken with a grain of salt, the story does contain some interesting information. Particularly the part about Musiala’s salary requirement: £300,000, which equates to more than €18m per season. That would be €4m higher than Bayern Munich’s supposed new salary cap of €14m (which is still a rumoured figure):
Manchester City have received a major boost by signing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old is in talks with the Bundesliga club over a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2026.
But he is now said to have rejected their latest offer, with Bayern apparently unwilling to meet his wage demands. The attacking midfielder has already impressed for Germany at Euro 2024, scoring three goals and sharing the Golden Boot with five other players, including team-mate Harry Kane.
According to the Mirror , Musiala is demanding £300,000-a-week, which advisers believe represents his value following his performances this summer. City are now favourites to sign the striker next year, with Bayern seemingly prepared to sell or risk losing a valuable asset for free within 12 months.
Bayern Munich will not give up easily:
Bayern do not appear to have given up on talks with new manager Vincent Kompany in the hope of keeping him in Munich. They are reportedly valuing the player at around £120m, a fee that could put many top clubs out of contention.
Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with Musiala, whose contract expires in 2026.
