Manchester United to field three starters against Barnsley

United face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and go into the game with a number of injury concerns.

While Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount remain unavailable as they recover from injury, the Dutchman is confident of his back four, according to manager Erik ten Hag. Three key players in the squad have provided further positive updates.

Central defenders Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt, as well as right-back Noussail Mazraoui, are available against Barnsley after their recent injury problems that played into the game.

Martinez was injured in the 77th minute against Southampton at the weekend but will not miss any games. Mazraoui was substituted in the 74th minute but the former Ajax star has also had no problems.

De Ligt, another Bayern Munich player, returns to United after suffering cramps against Southampton, which initially raised injury concerns. But, like everyone else, there is nothing to worry about here.

United will have to weigh up the pros and cons of having these star defenders against Crystal Palace against Barnsley in the Premier League this weekend, as United can easily win without risking many of their key players, especially Martinez if his touch is less than 100%.
