Reports emerged on Tuesday that Fermín López has returned to training with Barcelona. The 21-year-old has missed the last few weeks with a muscle injury, but was due to return, which would be good timing for Hansi Flick as Dani Olmo has been out for 4-5 weeks.
Unfortunately, Fermín will not be back immediately. Barcelona have confirmed that he has suffered a muscle injury in his other leg, which he suffered earlier, and Sport say he will be out for the next three weeks.
Fermín’s injury means that he and Omo will not be able to play for Barcelona at the moment. Flick now has very limited options in attacking midfield: Pedri is the obvious candidate at the moment, while the German coach could also call on Pablo Torre and Raphinha.
