It was confirmed last week that Pablo Barrios, one of Atletico Madrid’s best players at the start of the season, suffered a muscle injury while on international duty. He is expected to be out for three weeks, making it difficult for him to return in time for the Madrid derby later this month.
Barrios will also miss Atletico’s next three games: away games against RB Leipzig, Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo. However, Marca report that he trained on the grass during Tuesday’s training session, so he should be given some time in the upcoming games.
If he continues to improve at this rate, there is a good chance that Barrios could return to Real Madrid, which would be excellent news for Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone. He may not be missed against Valencia, but the 21-year-old certainly makes Los Colchoneros a better team.
