Barcelona have been on the lookout for a new star forward as they prepare for the inevitable departure of Robert Lewandowski in the coming years. Among those linked with President Laporta’s dream signing in particular is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in recent months.
Haaland is a player who is currently out of reach, although there is a chance he could be sought if Barcelona significantly improve their financial situation upon Lewandowski’s departure. However, their anticipated pursuit will become more difficult.
According to the British “Sports” report, Haaland is about to finalize a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Manchester City, which will also increase his salary. In addition, his release clause will increase from 150 million euros to 200 million euros.
The chances of Barcelona landing Haaland at some stage remain slim, but doing so will become increasingly difficult. Therefore, other options may need to be considered more seriously.
