Newcastle United are in the running to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, according to a recent report from Fisheyes. The Magpies will reportedly have to compete with Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign the German winger.
Adeyemi’s form in German football last season
The 22-year-old struggled for Dortmund last season but produced some impressive displays in the final third. Last season, Adeyemi made 34 appearances in all competitions for Germany, scoring just five goals and providing two assists.
The German prodigy has made a number of substitute appearances but has excelled in the Bundesliga, averaging 1.1 shots and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes. With a pass completion rate of 77.9% in the league (stats from whoscored), he is also capable of distributing the ball with skill in the opposition half.
His current contract with the German club expires in the summer of 2027, which could make it difficult for Newcastle to sign him cheaply next year.
Newcastle United are locked in a three-way battle for Adeyemi – is he worth fighting for?
Adeyemi is good at finding space for himself and shooting. He can unleash his venom from distance and create occasional goalscoring opportunities for his team-mates.
The young German is an excellent dribbler with both feet. He plays primarily as a left winger, but can also operate as a right winger or centre-back if required.
Adeyemi is good enough to compete for a regular place in the Newcastle United first team. He will add more firepower to Eddie Howe’s attack and could help the Magpies compete in all competitions next season.
Adeyemi, 22, has the potential to become a future star of European football. However, only time will tell if he can adapt to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League. However, there are more pros than cons to hiring someone with his skill and potential. Overall, Adeyemi is good value for money, so Howe should focus on getting him a deal next year.
